Latest Updates from Our Project:

The Final 2 Days
almost 4 years ago – Fri, Jun 12, 2020 at 06:32:53 PM

Thank you to all my amazing returning backers and to new backers to our projects, welcome to the journey! In case you are wondering, Deep Dungeon Games is aimed at creating content that is as game agnostic as we can create it. This is great for many different reasons, because when a new edition comes out or you switch game types, you do not have to repurchase the content. This might be a bad way of doing business, but we would rather create content that you can use for a lifetime than create content to make a quick buck. Our focus is on our backers, customers, and the community that has allowed us to even be able to do this.

You all have made this project the most funded and the most backed of our 13 projects thus far! We are humbled that you have supported us but, to be honest, the content we create is unique and the resounding demand for this content from the community is proof of this! This will be our last update with previews of the content, at least until we start showing off the content on the pages and such.

  • Add-on Information – See Update #8
  • Basic Shipping Information – See Update #8

Thank you all so much for supporting. We like to provide little outlines to every update to help you see what to expect. Your time is important, and we do not want to waste it unnecessarily! So below you will see what you can expect from this update.

Project Content Preview – Skyfall Clan

This clan is unique in so many ways and dwell on the surface on large mesas on a lower realm of The Crags, the area known as the Tempest Plateau. Since they are the most seen dwarves, a few travelers think this is an indication of how the entire race is. But that is simply not the case as many others meet the more stubborn and stiff versions of the dwarven clans.

Personality – The Dwarves of the Skyfall Clan are a much more happy-go-lucky and are often called air-brained by other dwarves. The closeness to their griffons and their ability to use them as flying mounts causes them to be a bit of an envy from the other dwarven clans. They have the most unique and different customs and traditions of all the dwarven clans.

Physical Description - The Dwarves of the Skyfall clan have blond hair ranging from dirty to platinum blond (though platinum blond is viewed as most desirable). Very few Skyfall Dwarves have non-blond hair and those who don't have blond hair will always die it. They have generally somewhat pale skin and have the same range of height as other dwarves; however, they tend to have a smaller build than most other dwarves. As dwarves go, they are thought to have the most attractive facial features of any dwarven caste. Like most other dwarven clans, both men and women have long hair, it is viewed as shameful for one to cut their hair in Skyfall Dwarven society. This is viewed as denying their caste. Even dwarves who were banished from dwarven society usually still wear their hair with pride.

History - The dwarven race, the people of the earth, have spent centuries untold digging down into the dirt and stone below their feet. But when Thren Skyfall stepped onto the Crags to seek a new home for his people he was struck by a moment of inspiration with something so simple it would come to define his clan for a millennium and more. Dig up! As he and his clan trudged through the desolate and dreary Crags they began to be surrounded by rising peaks, immense plateaus that rose straight out of the ground like walls. And while the dirt below was hard and meager, the pillars of earth and stone appeared a viable home for the lost and homeless tribe. Settling into the lower portion of the Crags, an area that would come to be known as the Tempest Plateau, the clan began to build a makeshift town at the base of a giant Mesa. Digging through the Mesa’s base they began to dig upwards, reaching towards the lofty heights of the plateau’s peak. This mount, named Parlinent Mesa, became the first Mesa to be dug by the Skyfall clan and has remained its capital ever since. In the centuries that followed numerous other Mesa were expanded, with the local three Mesas of Parlinent, Chanlant, and Red being considered the heart of the clan. The Tempest Mesa.

Project Art Preview

While the Tempest Mesa, as the heart of the Skyfall clan, is a composition of three Plateaus and an inner city, the Mesas themselves generally act as standalone entities. The dozen other Mesas that litter the Tempest Plateau are cities unto themselves with thriving economies, societies, and governance.

While each Mesa is unique in nature, they follow a similar general structure, design, and operation.

Content Questions – Polls

So, we have a general concept of how we see the crafting and the content you can use to craft with. My question for you backers is below:

Would you prefer to keep all the crafting rules in the appendix or separate section, or have detailed information on crafting a specific item or item type?

- Link - https://strawpoll.com/eyxssrbe

I have had a lot of interest in a true pathfinder edition of this book. That aside, if we made the conversion to pathfinder, it would be in the form of a supplement to the book and provided to every backer who would want it for free. My question for you backers is below:

If we do a free pathfinder version supplement, would you want a physical print copy or is digital fine?

- Link - https://strawpoll.com/276wkz81

This obviously comes with additional costs because most companies have minimums or require a set up. If this is limited to a certain number, I do not mind printing off the limited run, but if there is enough demand, I want to make sure it gets facilitated to you backers.

The final poll comes with more of a simple question that came to me today while we were creating this content for you to use. The crafting rules handle creating your own items and magical creations from the treasure of the earth, but you may want to create your own similar content and my question to you backers is below:

Do you want an outline on how to create your own elements, minerals, rocks, soils, dwarf clans, and more?

- Link - https://strawpoll.com/ygr7e83x

Now, keep in mind that none of these questions are major changes or are guaranteed to be added. Yet, your feedback helps us create content you want to see in our project. The main desire is to ensure that this is content that you can use and use quickly and effectively! We are amazing at listening to our backers and we will make sure to listen to this feedback.

Discord Update

We should have the Discord organized and ready to go for all our backers very soon! This will be a great place for Deep Dungeon Games project backers to get constant flows of information, chat with us more open and freely, be more engaged with the content that is being created, get information on free content, and so much more.

Social Sharing

We are small, and while we have amazing content, it is hard to get the word out. So, we depend on you all to help us out! This is your campaign as much as it is ours, so consider sharing the sample page PDF to help get people excited about it, share our social media posts, or just come follow us!

If you want to help us spread the word about the campaign you can share these badges on social media!

Final week! Thank You Backers!
almost 4 years ago – Sun, Jun 07, 2020 at 07:41:57 PM

We are coming to the end of our funding time together and, if history is any sort of marker, we will see a large portion of our funding of this project during this time. We have a few different things to help us finish strong, but of course, your help is especially important.

A few of you have let us know you have been sharing the project and please let us know when you do! We want to show our praise to those who share, and we know that some do social media stretch goals, but I am not the best at tracking those! I think, regardless, this book is so full of content that slamming it full of more is just to say thank you and to give more to you all. You can also tag Deep Dungeon Games in any posts! When we hit 1065 backers, this will be our most-backed project!!!!!

History – Skyfall Clan Chieftain

Since the first pick was swung into the Tempest Mesa the Skyfall clan has prided itself on the fair and democratic systems in which their lives and city have been built upon. A clan notorious for their relaxed and carefree attitude, the dwarven folk of the sky treat their leadership roles as pivotal in allowing them to retain the qualities they hold dear. At the end of every decade, since the death of Thren Skyfall almost a millennia ago, those who deem themselves worthy will stand in front of their clansmen and pledge to serve as Chieftain.

Over the next week, those candidates will spend time amongst their clan, gathering votes and committing promises to the future. At the week's end a tally is taken, a vote from each household is given, and the new chieftain of the Skyfall clan is chosen. The centuries have seen scores of clan leaders step onto the podium and place themselves at the head of the clan. While clan members of all heritage and background have taken up the mantle, the vast majority of those elected have been kin of the long-passed Thren Skyfall. For six decades, Lunac has ruled the Skyfall Clan. Once a charismatic and effective leader, the loss of his son Illador in a Griffon accident a few years prior has seen his care for the role dwindle away.

Slowly withdrawing from the world and taking to the bottle, none were surprised when word began to spread that his daughter, not he, would be standing for election this coming cycle. While the changing of the guard between dwarven chieftains has always seen new purpose, resolve, or decisions brought to the clan, Lunac’s long rule was one of peace and prosperity and will be long remembered. While some wish for that prosperity to continue others see this as a chance to force the winds of change to blow in their direction and turn the tide of the ruling powers within the Tempest Mesa.

Art – Winters Fingers

This location is harsh with the environment alone, but one should also be wary of frost giants. Yet, the cold northern reaches are some of the most ancient and they are home to darker things than giants.

Discord

We are working on having a Discord server and our Kickstarter backers will have their very own home there. In addition, individuals who return constantly to support us will have access to our VIP room and be able to interact with us in a bit of a smaller setting. This, I hope, will bring us all closer together, provide a flow of information without the need to post an update, make interactions with the people who are making your content more personal, be a place to get updated on new, free, and updated content from us, and be a place for all sorts of other things! Let us know what you think about this as well as what you would like to see on this platform.

We are always striving to make everything better for you!

Niwris Example Page

We also like to give you a preview of our content that is coming out even if they are not the same books. It helps you see more of our desire to provide incredibly detailed content for you all. We strive to be more than just a paragraph and a piece of art and we thank you for letting us create for you!

Double Funded - Humbled and Amazed
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Jun 02, 2020 at 11:50:20 PM

Double Funded! Thank you, Backers!

This has been our most successful project to date, and we do not take that lightly. Every single one of us including the artists, writers, editors, and of course myself, are humbled by your support. The team I have assembled for this project are all ambitious to have this content done for you all! Overall, this project is utterly amazing, and it is no wonder why we are seeing this type of support!

As a thank you to every backer, we will be delivering a free STL file of this amazing dwarven character. If you have a 3D printer, then it will be easy to print as many as you would like for your home campaigns. We will also offer the mini printed, but we will be using a print on demand style for this. It is a good alternative if you would like the mini but does not have a 3D printer! We just hope you get to use it in some form and it is just a small token of our appreciation to every single backer.

Content Preview - Lithloc Strip Mine

Mine Background:

This particular mine has been around for longer than most people who coined the term ‘mining’. It is one of the oldest mines in the world and thus has the most recognizable type of mining. The strip mine has burrowed into some of the largest mountain ranges known to the dwarves that have always lived here. The mine has cut the smallest mountain in half and left it as two jagged spikes on the horizon. For the past twenty years, the mine had stayed in the same family. However, recently Frontlern Illian took over and has made the mine more efficient and profitable.

General Features:

The ground in every part of the mine is small gravel made of blueish gray stones that let off dust. At the top of the mountain, there is still dirt, but the dwarves have dug down far enough to only see the rock. If one was to take any path within the mine, they would find smooth stone walls, separated into layers that look like they could be peeled apart like a pastry.

Each stone layer in the walls of the mine and the tunnels that go further into the main wall is a different color. The striations are stark in contrast and there are hooks drilled into the darkest (and presumably softest layers) to hang identical lanterns on every wall, a few feet apart to light up every room.

Mine History:

Originally, Lithloc was owned by the Lithloc family. For six generations of dwarven lifespans, they owned the mine and worked digging a crevasse into the mountain. It took many years for them to find any profitable outcome. They eventually split the mountain entirely in half and have created a v-shaped valley to dig inside of. With every passing year, they widen the deepest portion to make it more useful to stand and walk upon. There have been very few scandals until recent years when the mine changed hands to Mr. Illian. The new owner has started drilling into the mountains by magical means and taking pieces out in a way that is not in line with how people used to mine in this area.

Mine Features:

The mine is one long valley path that is between two artificially created mountains that used to be one. Every year the dwarves dig further into the sides of the mountain and pull out more and more rock to open up space. There is so much space that in the center to the entrance of the valley are a few structures for staff to work in. The more recent additions to the mine include tunnels burrowed into the mountain to look for the profitable stone. These efforts have been headed by geomancers who move the rock around in an attempt to not make the weight on top of their new burrows create cave-ins. They have found incredibly expensive minerals inside of the mountains and have started to work on moving inwards, rather than working the outside of the mine inward a little at a time. These rooms are well lit with lanterns that are checked by the miners every day as they make their shift through.

Art – Jarheal Frosthammer

We always try to have an interesting narrator for the books we have put out. The Herbology Handbook featured Harold the Halfling, The Marvelous Menagerie featured Niwri and his parade of animals, The Wearers Writings features Riply the Weaver and her boar Newt, and now we are proud to announce Jarheal Frosthammer for The Mineralogy Manual.

We will send some more information about our illustrious narrator out as we go along, and by adding the narrator we bring you an interesting character you can add to your game, create a dialog that breaks up the monotony of the text, and really make the content come to life!

Add-ons – Information to know

First off, you can add any of these items in two ways. Either you can adjust your backer reward amount or add the add-on during the Backerkit survey. These both provide certain levels of preference. If you are a Kickstarter method backer, then we actually do not get charged fees by both Backerkit and Kickstarter. That brings more funds to the project overall and also helps unlock stretch goals! The Backerkit direction allows you to spread the cost of the project out and close your support when you are ready.

Just go to manage your reward and change your pledge amount if you would like to have the funds go directly to the Kickstarter goal.

For better or for worse we like to keep it very simple, and while more pages means more cost, we find that by keeping books with relative similar sizes the same cost, it is easier to plan and manage.

Small Books – 40 to 80 pages

This includes Diception: Gamblers Gambit, Diception: Carnival Conquest, Diception: Trail of the Gods, and Seven of Seven: The Pantheon of the Chain.

  • Hardback - $20.00
  • PDF - $10.00

Large Books – 100 to 250 pages

This includes the Tome of Magical Mystery, The Heroes Hoard, Harold the Halflings Herbology Handbook, Niwri's Marvelous Menagerie of the Multiverse, and The Weavers Writings on the Wilds.

  • Hardback - $40.00
  • PDF - $18.00

Card Decks – 52 Card Decks

This includes The Heroes Hoard Decks (12 Different Available – Class-Specific Magic Items Decks), Decks of Magical Mystery (4 Different Available – Magic Item Decks by Power Level), Decks of the Compelling Consumables ( 4 Different Available – Magic Consumable Items like potions, poisons, naturally occurring, and cooked), Decks of Boons, Deck of Banes, Status Effect Deck, Decks of the Arbitrary Athenaeum, and the Decks of Casual Characters.

  • Physical Decks - $15.00
  • Print & Play PDF – $7.50

Ok, I know that is a lot to read, but just remember

  • Small Books - $20/$10
  • Large Books - $40/$18
  • Card Decks - $15/$7.5

We will also be offering all the items on the Kickstarter page like enamel pins, t-shirts, banners, the different versions of The Mineralogy Manual, stickers, and playmats. Things you may not see that could be add-ons if you choose are Real Ale Horn Mugs ($25/$40/$60), Dice Towers ($25), Dice Boxes ($30), Dice ($7), and plenty of other add-ons that we will let you know about as we go along.

Also, a ton of levels have add-ons that are already included, so look to see what you’re already getting! Please, do not hesitate to reach out to us!

Shipping

The part I hate the most is shipping, and I really wish I did not have to charge for it at all! Yet, it is part of the whole process and we always want to bring you the best prices. We have gotten good at planning this part out and have places in Canada, the United Kingdom, the EU, and one of our writers can even ship from within Australia. This is all of course based on numbers to make if feasible. For instance, if we only have 10 backers in Australia, then it would not make sense to ship the packages in bulk rather than individually from the US. Whatever the outcome, just know that we will send your purchase in whichever way we can save you the most amount of money. So, the below prices are the minimum you can expect to pay:

First-Class Package Service - Starting From $2.74

First-Class Package International Service – Starting From $12.25

The requirements for this are a maximum weight of 70 pounds, maximum combined length and girth (girth is the distance around the thickest part) of 108 inches, and when sealing a Flat Rate Envelope or Box the container flaps must be able to close within the normal folds. That does not mean that if your order fits the above criteria that these costs are only the minimum. Once we know the absolute final page count (or damn close) then we know the weight and we can plan accordingly. This is all really to give you an idea of where to start.

The full details can be seen with this link to USPS shipping rates.

Upcoming Stretch Goal
almost 4 years ago – Sat, May 30, 2020 at 11:40:57 PM

Hey everyone! Thank you for returning backers and new backers once again! This update is more for some content preview, as well as some general information! In our next update, we will be doing an addon update for everyone. This way everyone who would like to can change their pledge amounts accordingly, instead of adding the content on through Backerkit. This honestly allows us to keep more of the funds then being charged fees from Kickstarter and then through Backerkit.

The outline for this update is below!

Lore

The Behemoth’s Walkway

Location & Climate

The Behemoth’s Walkway is a relatively warm area that does not change temperature very frequently. At night it is a comfortable cool with the breeze coming off the coast from the waters. The sound of the waves lapping lightly against the beach is a constant melody that comforts the inhabitants and visitors, even if they don’t actively know it’s happening around them.

The rocks by the beach are warmed by the sun and it is advised not to walk on them with bare feet. On the rocks is commonly washed up kelp and hunks of algae that have washed in from the water. Next to this craggy area is often a large amount of gnarled and twisted driftwood. There is also a large amount of volcanic activity in this area where lava flows very freely.

Weather here is relatively mild though there are occasional rains, the most noteworthy weather system is hurricane season. In an awfully specific part of the year, there are hurricanes that are known to uproot trees and break rocks. In the calmer season, you can see the destruction and, after a few weeks, the water from the shore has worn down the rocks and broken trees to make them smoother.

Everything about this location is tropical. People come here to enjoy time away from their normal lives and to explore and experience a part of the world that has been shaped by the giants.

Important Locations

Splashway: Between the meticulously organized rocks is an area that looks wetter than the rest of The Behemoth’s Walkway. If you stand long enough you will see geysers exploding from between the rocks and splashing anything that has settled in that area. These streams of water occasionally displace items from the ocean floor like sea glass, shells, plants, and small fish. These fish often end up shriveled and dead near the geysers unless they have been picked apart by the birds, with only bones left behind.

Watch Pools: There are pools in the rock that have been worked away by the water that has eroded the surface for a long period of time. These pools consistently hold up to six inches of water. This is a location not far from the Splashway and is full of small animals and sea life. It’s common to find families wandering around the pools and touching, looking at, and drawing pictures of what is inside. These pools contain coral, crustaceans, algae, moss-covered rocks, and starfish that have spawned more starfish of various colors. These areas are watched by people who work in the area to make sure no one takes anything from them.

Echo Caves: Known almost exclusively to the people who live nearby. Under the overhanging lip of the geometrical rocks is a series of caves. The drop-down is relatively small and hits a purposefully piled lump of sand that is meant to catch people. The caves are mostly a system of tunnels that go deeper under the walkway above with small cracks to show the sun. On the ground are a few feet of water and a pathway that winds against the left wall. In the water are fish that exist only in the darkness, with illuminating bodies and eyes to draw their prey towards them.

Coral Tangles: Sticking out of the edge of the stone path is vibrant living coral that is kept alive by the splashing of the water from the ocean. They grow as tall as trees and there is a number of ribbons tied to the smaller finger-width tendrils of coral. These ribbons occasionally have parchment tags on them that are made out to friends, family, or loved ones who might be passing through later, or they’re simply placed for people to see in the future. The caretakers of the area are self-proclaimed and are often cleaning up the parchment notes that have been there for longer than anyone could reasonably visit to get them.

Art

Enjoy one of the featured battle maps from the Behemoth’s Walkway, while it is usually free of lava flow. This area is very prone to volcanic activity. Honestly, it may just be the red, the pillars, or because it’s amazingly beautiful. Whatever the reason, it is one of my favorites of all the battle maps features in this project!

75k Next Stretch Goal

So, this stretch goal I feel is imperative to taking the crafting rules and expanding upon them further to potions, ingredients, flora, and even fauna. While it is my opinion that everything derives from the earth in one form or another, it can be taken and broken down further and further until it either it becomes mundane or one can still find the traces of magic within it!

We will add soil varieties to the Treasures of the Earth section like a tempest, argil, sowers, fey, fel, and verdure to The Mineralogy Manual. These soils will further breakdown the origins of the elements and give examples of how they add details to your world.

We will add 10 varieties of fantasy-themed fossils to the crafting of the earth chapter of The Mineralogy Manual. These fossils will breakdown the origin, lore, and magical crafting possibilities with them.

So, let us get to sharing and reaching out everywhere we can!

10 Days - 1st stretch goal unlocked! Amazing!!!!!! - Quick Update
almost 4 years ago – Tue, May 26, 2020 at 10:47:25 PM

Hey everyone thanks you for your support! It is Memorial Day here in the US, so it is a rather important holiday for me personally. If you have ever lost a friend, family member, or know of someone who has died in any war through the years. Give them and their loved ones a thought, prayer, or a simple message. I know we all have different feelings about this kinda stuff, but any loss of life is tragic. This day is about remembering those we lost, and as a disabled vet, I have some remembering to do!

Anyways, I just wanted to send this quick updated to thank all of you amazing backers! You are truly wonderful and we have officially hit 40k, and are moving on to our next stretch goal! I have absolute faith that we will hit the 75k stretch goal, and honestly I really think it will help move the crafting rules to where they can even be applied to plants, animals, and items crafted from those types of things.

Everyone have a fantastic day today, I am forever humbled to be able to create for you all! I will send a much better update in the next couple of days!

Until next time
