Latest Updates from Our Project:

A little over one week down!
almost 4 years ago – Mon, May 25, 2020 at 09:28:19 PM

Hello wonderful backers! If you are new to our Kickstarter projects, then welcome! If you are a returning backer, then welcome back! The Kickstarter is going fantastic and we owe it all to you wonderful backers and all the work in the background is going just as well! We always like to give you a bit of an outline of the update, especially when there is a lot of information, art, and content.

The outline for this update is below:

  • Lore
  • Art
  • Content Preview
  • New T-Shirt Design
  • New Reward
  • Projects We Love
  • Closing in on 40k
  • Sharing is Caring

Lore – Stonemaul Clan

Honorable, fair-minded, hard-working, and unyielding these terms best described the dwarven folk of the Stonemaul Clan. Stonemaul Dwarves and fantasy in all its sources have a long-standing and deeply rooted alliance with one another and depending on your fantasy world, Dwarvish is often one of the most spoken languages of the realms. The Dwarves that belong to the Stonemaul control most mining rights in the Southern mineral-rich mountains and the caverns of these mountains are filled with endless tunnels, caves, and natural forming grottos.

Stonemaul Dwarves are naturally dense, compact creatures. They stand no more than 41/2 feet tall, but they have the breadth and depth of creatures twice their height. Their arms are slightly longer for their height, their hands reaching down almost to their knees. Their torso and legs are in proportion to their height. Both males and females are heavily muscled with thick, well-rounded limbs and broad shoulders and hips. The males favor growing their beards long and women typically braid their hair. Their clothing is functional and exceptionally sturdy. Metal is used as often as cotton or leather in their raiments.

Stonemaul Dwarven history begins with the Mullodar Dwarves being forced from their home in the years before the eruption of their Primordial Wars began to consume most of the lands of the realms. The quick assault that forced the Mullodar Dwarves into the 4 main clans that exist now, forced the dwarves to escape rapidly. The Mullodar Dwarves that make up the origins of the Stonemaul clan were primarily members of the armies, nobility, and higher-ranking members of the clan. This often makes many think that the Stonemaul Dwarves are the leading clan but truly they are now each their own clan. Many of the ancestors of the Stonemaul Dwarves died so that the rest of the civilians and non-fighting dwarves could make their escape. Upon the escape of the rest of the members of the once great Mullodar clan, the remaining members gathered and escaped to the southern mountains and have since lived in their new home known as the Stonehearth.

Art

We are excited about the content we are putting out for The Mineralogy Manual, and while there are tons of creatures with ties to the earth. If someone tells me “children of the earth” or “fantasy race that live underground”, my first thought always goes to the dwarven race. Honestly, they are my absolute favorite race to play or to use as NPCs. It might be their stubbornness, culture, or even their fabulous beards, but whatever reason, they are heavily featured in the lore, dungeons, and content of the Mineralogy Manual. We plan on having the pages marked with little pieces that one will have to look closely at but will help them really feel that this book was created by a Dwarven Author!

Content Preview from the Herbology Handbook

Those who are new to our campaigns might be wondering what you will be receiving from this project. We can tell you hundreds of times, but we would rather show you the high level at which we want to create for you. Most of the content we try to write, flavor, and create in a way that it can be used for a variety of RPG’s, writings, or even novels! We do not claim to be playable by every game but rather that we try to make much of the content (75% or above) usable in anything you can think of. Another major focus of ours is the depth in which we create, it is about making it better for you as a GM or Player able to create a fantastic world with much less work! We see where there is a major lack in content and name generators do not really make things fantastic, so in this example page, we hope you will see the level in which this book will be (x400+ pages of course)

The old school way of gaming was focused on dungeon diving: the deeper you descended into the dungeon, the better the loot became. At Deep Dungeon Games we embrace that“old school” philosophy with every product we offer; the best gameplay “loot” for the best gamers. Since 2016, from a small town in Texas, we have been delving deeper into our own dungeon of creativity, looking to create content that gamers have always been asking for to really flesh out their realms and adventures. Since then, we have strived to provide the best of everything from wood crafting to writing supplements for any game you play and especially the 5th edition of the world’s most popular role-playing game.

We want to create a collection beyond 2 paragraphs and a piece of art! Content that you want to put in your fantasy world and to make your world truly fantastic!

New T-Shirt Design

We always had the upgrade to the T-shirt planned, but sometimes art can take quite a while, but it was so worth it! You will still be able to choose the design we had in place, but if you would like you can upgrade to this shirt for no extra charge! This new design will only be available during this Kickstarter and truly it is beautiful!

Also, we are not set on the “rock and roll” phrase, I am a huge fan of rock music but we get that some might think that it is a bit cheesy. A few of the best ones I have found are listed below! Feel free to drop a comment if you have one that you might think that everyone would like and we will do a poll on our next update!

  • Beardless fool
  • As flaky as a mica
  • Blood and Stone!
  • You are two pickaxes short of a mineshaft.
  • It isn’t the size of your pick, it's how you swing it

They may not be the best quotes, but a few of them I think are good contenders!

New Reward – Earth Bringer – Only Available for 1 Week or 250 Backers

So, some of you might have noticed we launched a new $95 dollar reward and it is only available for one week or 250 backers (whichever comes first). This goal is the same as the $80 – Tinkerer Reward Tier, except now you get this awesome T-shirt and an 18” x 24” poster of the art as well! So, make sure you share this new reward and update your reward if this is something you really like!

Projects We Love

We always like to co-share campaigns because one of the hardest parts about being a small company in a world full of people, is getting your voice heard over the drums of all the content that is out there! So, when we find an awesome project, we want to help promote them and at least let you get to see them and make a choice to support them as well.

12 Wondrous Coins, designed with love in England, with accompanying rules for instant use in your Fifth Edition game. Bring them to the table - each has functional gameplay mechanics. Include them in your game to enhance play, captivate players, build a narrative, and encourage powerful storytelling.

We want to bring them into the fold and create the coins for the addons, but there will need to be a bit of a discussion and all that! If it works out, then we think they will make some fantastic add-ons in the dwarven style!

We are sure you have seen but in case you have not then check out the Deck of Many Animated Spells

The Deck of Many Animated Spells, Tarot & More is the long-awaited follow up of our first animated spells campaign. These cards are compatible with 5e and animate to look like you are actually casting the spell!

Hit Point Press is a fantastic group and I have supported a few of their projects! Hit Point Press, creators of Humblewood, The Deck of Many, Animated Spells, and more! They strive to create awesome projects that they know you'll love.

Plus, freaking animated cards!!!!!!

Closing in on 40K – What is next?

So, after we hit 40k we will be posting the playtesting material on the downloads page of our website! This is where you can get tons of free content, playtesting content, and other useful stuff! The early look at this content will help us ensure that it fits the playability of most tables! We will post an update once we post the content for you all to peruse and playtest.

Sharing is caring!

Hey, we are small and while we have amazing content it is hard to get the voice out! So, we depend on you all to help us out! This is your campaign as much as it is ours, so consider sharing the sample page PDF to help get people excited about it, share our social media posts, or just come follow us!

That is all for now everyone! Thank you all for your amazing support!

Lore Update - Another fun one with a bit of information
almost 4 years ago – Fri, May 22, 2020 at 12:59:03 AM

Hey everyone! A bit of a quick update and we just wanted to share some more amazing awesome lore with you all! As a disabled veteran, I really cannot thank you all enough for supporting! The nature of my disability does not always allow for me to work in areas and such, so you all have allowed me to stay focused and to keep working!

This community is amazing, and we are seriously trying to ramp up our free content as well! We have added a ton of stuff that is completely free to download, you do not even have to sign up via email! You might think that is stupid, but for us, it is about the community! Honestly, if it was not for the cost of production, paying for the art and content inside, and for keeping the bills paid! I would not charge a cent for anything! I really do mean it when I say, that I personally appreciate every single one of you and will work until complete exhaustion for you all!

You can go check out the download page on our website here!

The outline for this update is as follows:

  • Lore Segment
  • 24 Hour Stretch Goal
  • Featured Collaborator
  • Next Stretch Goal
  • Projects We Love

Lore - Qannesdam

Module Overview

For centuries untold the fires of Mount Blackpeak have warmed the forges of Stirforge, the home of the Ashfoot clan.

A week ago, those fires went cold, the roar of the volcano growing silent, its core a frozen dead husk.

Afroul Ashfoot has summoned the heroes of Mullodar to aide their clan. To rekindle Mount Blackpeak they must enter Helsa, the fire realm of Feri, the goddess of fire, and return with an ‘Elemental Heart of Fire’.

Sent through an elemental portal, guarded by the fire druids of old, the party will find themselves in the dark and scorching plane of fire. With only two days to complete the task before the portal closes, the clock is ticking.

The party will find themselves upon the isle of Qannesdam; a small island dominated by the town of Firental and the Fortress of Flames.

This module is designed around the idea of choice, and the consequences that come with that choice.

The adventuring party will be given a number of options and methods in which to retrieve an ‘Elemental Heart of Fire’.

Each of these choices, however, comes with significant repercussions. What price are they willing to pay to return the fires to Mount Blackpeak? And who is willing to pay that price?

History

The town of Firental has existed for thousands of years on the isle of Qannesdam. This small industrious town is home to the dark dwarves, kin to those that live on Pamwen, their resilient and hardy nature making them a perfect fit for this hot and hazardous landscape.

Surrounded by fields of lava, Firental is also home to deep and bountiful mines that pull rare minerals and elements from the fiery ground.

The isle and its surrounding regions are ruled by the elemental lord, Lucaras. The lord of fire was given these lands by the primordial goddess of fire Feri, when she created Hesla, the plane of fire.

Lucaras has ruled over these lands with a fair and wise hand for centuries upon centuries. His skill with the hammer and forge, alongside his ability to control the powerful fire giants, has led to a rich and prosperous years for all.

To this island many races, creatures, monsters, and heroes will make their way in search of the legendary crafts and masterwork armaments. Others come for the rare elements and priceless minerals. Others to forge contracts and transfer supplies.

Peace and prosperity sit well upon a town in a blazing hellscape of molten rock, heat, and flame.

24 - hour stretch goal - Enamel Pin Unlock

We do little stretch goals with every large update, so it is a chance for you as a backer to get more bang for your buck!

So, if we hit $50,000 in 24 hours from the time of this update, all physical backers will get all four of the brand new 4 enamel pins of our dwarven clan symbols! These enamel pins will only be available as add-ons/rewards for this Kickstarter!! If you would like to get them as a reward, then help us get the word out (digital backers will only need to pay for the shipping of these pins).

Featured Collaborator

Next Stretch Goal

As soon as we hit the 40k mark we unluck are fist stretch goal of The Mineralogy Manual. This goal is rather important because we feel that it only makes sense to have a magical wizard subclass, as well as a tinkering explosives expert added to the book.

The Geomancer! As a wizard, you have become attuned to the element of the earth and have become at one with it. You work hard to keep it under control, but it always appears effortless. You know everything about the Earthen magic and the skill that goes into molding it, and you also know that you have been chosen by the element to carry out its missions.

The Sapper! This class is for any fantasy race that has turned the skills they learned while employed in the construction of fortifications, trenches, or tunnels for mine construction and safety, into a powerful adventuring hero.

Also, with the sapper, we will be adding lots of interesting explosives and unique items to them! These will more than likely take the form of both texts for the book as well as item cards for GM's and Players.

Of course, as a backer of $15 and above, all the digital content will be provided to you in the form of print and play decks and you will have the option to add on the physical decks if you so choose!

Lore Update - Just for fun reading
almost 4 years ago – Wed, May 20, 2020 at 10:20:49 PM

So, part of this wonderful book is a section on fantastic locations. This includes a ton of writing (almost 20,000 words to be exact), battle maps of the area, and monsters/creatures that can be found in that area.

Eye of the Earth God

Location & Climate

The climate in the Eye of the Earth God is not unpleasant but still harsh. Being at a higher elevation despite how flat the surface is, the wind is unyielding. Every individual that walks this part of the world is covered in clothing from head to toe. The temperature feels comfortable and even welcoming but the sun is unrelenting. There is very little to hide behind in the way of shade and those unfamiliar with the area might not realize just how hot and dangerous the sun is because the wind makes the heat more tolerable.

On the days that the sun is not directly baring down on the green surface, there are clouds carrying violent storms. There are only two extremes – open blue skies with bright sun or dark clouds dropping rain, thunder, and lightning. Because of the altitude of this part of the world, the storms feel much closer than they might elsewhere. It’s not uncommon to stumble across a patch of grass that caught fire from lightning and was put out not long after by the heavy rain. The storms are relentless when they arrive and they stay for days at a time before moving on entirely to let the area rest, dry, and begin the cycle again.

Important Locations

The Heart: At the very center of the eye is a shrine that is shaped much like a pupil. The shrine is settled over a freshwater spring that is told to be blessed by the Earth God himself. Many travelers seek out this area for various different reasons. Some are looking to pray and meditate for some sort of guidance. Some are looking to drink the earth’s waters. Some are not sure what they’re looking for but are hopeful that they will find it when they are at the center. The name of this location has been heavily contested but ultimately, those that worship here have settled on The Heart as it is the most important location within the Eye itself. This is the sanctuary that everyone visits even if they didn’t realize they wanted to.

The Conduit: This location is a series of orc-built aqueducts that circle the very center of the eye and funnel water to the various farms that occupy the surface of the flat mountain top. The most heavily trafficked part of the conduit is the main spillway. This is the water source that channels the water down various pathways and in the main spillway there are controls to redirect the flow of water so each farm gets their share for the day. Someone mans this area at all times to be sure that the farmers are getting a fair amount and that they aren’t using too much water. The water in question is typically caught rainwater kept in massive barrels that are lifted via orc and goliath strength into the main channels. Each farmer is, of course, suggested to keep their own barrels of rainwater, and should they, the workers of the conduit will send someone to lift them and help distribute the water as well.

Dreary Den: A cliff-side tavern that houses workers and travelers on the eastern portion of the eye’s outer ring. It’s set precariously on the lip of a rocky drop but has not budged in the many years that it’s been standing on this ledge in particular. The structure is mostly stone reinforced with dwarven metal and the balcony that hangs over the lip of the cliff is magically structured so it won't break. This does not, however, keep people from falling off if they’re drunk and stupid. There’s a sign on the kitchen door that reads “__ number of days since an accident” and it’s very infrequently over ten. People come here to drink after a long day in the farms or tending the conduit but it’s also a reprieve for those that have recently climbed the mountain to pray at the heart. Travelers are surprisingly very welcome and commonly treated like family and guided about.

Outer Ring: The west side of the outer ring is constantly in conflict. As life goes on and expands, creatures that have called this area home are doing their best to maintain their livelihood and habitats. Though the inhabitants of the Eye of the Earth God do their best not to disrupt the natural order of things too much, it’s nearly impossible to expand without displacing some disgruntled beings. The start of the west side of the outer ring is marked by a massive boneyard. It’s a mix of creatures killed in a conflict with the orcs and other tribes that call this mountain home, and animals killed by the creatures that used to live in that area. Either way, it’s common knowledge not to move too far west and to leave that to the soldiers and warriors that hunt to protect and bring home the creatures to feast upon.

That is just a small portion of the writings, so I hope you enjoyed it!

I hope everyone is safe and sound and once again thank you for your support and do not forget to share!

Day 2 - Update
almost 4 years ago – Mon, May 18, 2020 at 05:34:17 PM

Hello all!

Thank you all so much for supporting, we like to provide little outlines to every update to help you see what is in the update. Your time is important and we do not want to waste it, if not needed! So below you will see the outline of the update:

Lore - Frosthammer Clan

We want to provide a small tidbit with every update, so you as the backer can get a look into the art, content, and process of the project!

They are also commonly known as the Ice Dwarves and that is due to their home is the most northern of the dwarven clans and in the frigid Ridgeline Mountains.

  • Personality - They shun strangers, but they are some of the most loyal friends someone could find. They mine a lot, but they have a deep-rooted sense that no matter what they should travel the wilderness a bit and get to know the wildlife, maybe even befriend it.
  • Physical Description – The Dwarves of the Frosthammer Clan are typically from 3'6" to 4'6" tall. Their weight ranges from 160 to 225 lbs. They have much whiter skin then their dwarven brethren and have yellow, white, or faded hair. Their eyes are usually icy blue, silver or purple in coloration.

Art - Return to Mullodar Map

We are pretty excited about the dungeons that are being put into this book. The maps are absolutely fabulous and the writing is very immersive and fun. We have done the dungeons in a very interesting concept to give each dungeon a unique style but also provide GM's different styles of gameplay.

This is just one part of the return to mullodar map, and we will show off more as we update the project further!

What is next -  Stretch Goals

So, are soon to hit the 40k mark we unluck are fist stretch goal of The Mineralogy Manual. This goal is rather important because we feel that it only makes sence to have a magical wizard subclass, as well as a tinkering explosives expert added to the book.

  • The Sapper! This class is for any fantasy race that has turned the skills they learned while employed in the construction of fortifications, trenches, or tunnels for mine construction and safety, into a powerful adventuring hero.

Also with the sapper, we will be adding lots of interesting explosives and unique items to them! Those more than likely take the form of both text for the book as well as item cards for GM's and Players.

Of course, as a backer of $15 and above all the digital content will be provided to you in the form of print and play decks and you will have the option to add on the physical decks if you so choose!

Do you want an explosive item deck if we unlock the sapper class? - Take the Poll

24 - hour stretch goal - Enamel Pin Unlock

We do little stretch goals with every large update, so its a chance for you as a backer to get more bang for your buck!

So if we hit $40,000 in 24 hours from the time of this update the all physical backers will get their choice of one enamel pin that is being offered during this campaign (for Mine Owner backers you will get an additional one).

Sharing - The most important part

Hey, we are small and while we have amazing content it is hard to get the voice out! So we depend on you all to help us out! This is your campaign as much as it is ours, so consider sharing the sample page PDF to help get people excited about it, share our social media posts, or just come follow us!
